Passage: Isaiah 9:1-7
GOLIATH – GIBOR - GIBORim
GIBOR= Strong. mighty. powerful. Impressive.
Built like a warrior, a hero, a champion
Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” John 18:36
Jesus’ might is different from the world’s might
Worldly might is always incomplete
EL GIBOR: MIGHTY GOD “GOD, THE MIGHTY ONE”
For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens (your people), the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. Isaiah 9:5-5
Jesus’ might is complete and perfect!
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:15
How do you live in this truth this week?
- Live knowing that your yoke of sin is shattered.
- Connect with God’s Might
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my MIGHT is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s MIGHT may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
“And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
