Passage: 2 Samuel 9:1-13

The Hebrew word for No is “Lo”

“You are great, O Lord God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you.” 2 Samuel 7:22

“Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” 2 Samuel 9:1.

Kindness = Hesed!  It means lovingkindness.  It is a covenant.

“Who am I that you should notice a dead dog like me?”  Sam. 9:8.

“I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.”  2 Samuel 9:7

“And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem because he always ate at the king’s table.”  2 Samuel 9:13

All this He does only out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me. – Martin Luther

“God who is rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he has loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses and sins, has made us alive together with Christ, and has raised us up to SIT with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show off the immeasurable riches of his grace and kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”  - Ephesians 2:6-7

God has invited you to His table for Jesus’ sake.  Who needs to be invited to yours?
