Passage: John 8:31-38
Sermon Notes: – John 8:31-38
“For freedom Christ has set us free.” Galatians 5:1a
The risen Christ does not want to be your tradition but your Lord.
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered Him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”” John 8:31-33
- There is freedom inside the boundaries of the Creator.
- The Creator is your personal Savior.
“Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’ John 8:34-36
Martin Luther’s favorite definition of a sinner was “man curved in on himself.”
The creator is your personal savior and desires relationship.
- Your personal savior brings freedom from self and for salvation.
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32
Freedom without Christ leads to frustration!
Who are you following? Where are they headed?
“All I can do now is trust Jesus like a child. My accomplishments, undergrad degree, master’s degree, savings are useless in that they cannot get me out from falling asleep/death. But I know Who can wake me up…. I’m trusting Him.” – Pastor Dave’s Friend, Andrew Johnson
