Words Matter - Diversity

SERMON NOTES – “Diversity”
“When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.” Acts 2:1

”Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language.” Acts 2:5-6
“Let all the house of Israel, therefore, know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Acts 2:36 (God’s unifying purpose)

“Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to Himself.” Acts 2:37-39
“God’s unifying purpose embodies diversity”

“God is love.” 1 John 4:8b
“In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.” 1 John 4:9
“In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10
We are called to share God’s love.
”Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us.” 1 John 4:11-12
”But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Jesus, Acts 1:8
God is love….He is like a Crockpot, eraser and scale.
