"Rejoice always,”"1 Thessalonians 5:16 4
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice." Philippians 4:4
Our joy comes from Christ’s abundant and eternal presence in our lives.
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[e]destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
"all Christians are subject to the “law of diminishing returns." That is to say, the “luxuries" we yearn to acquire tend to become, once we have them, "necessities" that we no longer can live without. We imagine that if we obtain certain things, then we will be satisfied, but when we get them and still feel empty, our greed grows larger still.” – Dr. Jeff Gibbs
- Have joy in presence over presents
- Give away treasured items to bless others
- Choose less this season because you have everything in Christ.
"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:30-33
"What earthly treasures have too much of your attention and focus. Ask God to replace it with a heavenly treasure of joy."
Series Information

Each year before Christmas, we spend our time in Advent. Advent provides more than just prep time for Christmas. It provides A sacred space where God can do His deepest work of establishing rhythms of attention, repentance, simplicity, and expectation. In our weekend Advent Series "The Art of Waiting," we will explore these rhythms and see that our God who became flesh in Jesus continues to meet us in our most human moments.
