Jesus is the True and Better Word
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he

So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God,
Hebrews 4:9
What does God mean by ‘rest?’
Two Types of Rest
1. Shallow (in your habits and routines)
“We have deprived the day of its power. We no longer allow ourselves to be
determined by the day. We count and compute it, we do not allow the day to give
to us. Thus we do not live it. Today, less than ever for technology is a campaign
against the day.” Deitrich Bonhoeffer – Creation and Fall p. 28
For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested
on the seventh day from all his works.” Hebrews 4:4
So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has
entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:9-1
Two Types of Rest
1. Shallow (in your habits and routines)
2. Deep (rooted in your identity)
Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort
of disobedience. Hebrews 4:11
There is a big difference between working to rest and working from rest!
Work from the deep rest that only Jesus gives.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

1. Shallow (Are you actually resting?)
2. Deep (Is your identity resting in Jesus?)
