Passage: Heb. 1:1-4
Jesus is the True and Better Word
God did not give us another rule book to follow; He gave us a Person to know.
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. Hebrews 1:1-4
Jesus: Heir, Creator, Sustainer
This is all good news, yet it is uncomfortable
How could a closer relationship with Jesus be better than what already seems to be working?
The Scriptures teach and confess that Jesus is the better driver.
Moses pointed forward to Someone better, Jesus IS that Someone
Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession. Hebrews 3:1
The Law shows us what righteousness looks like, but Jesus makes us righteous
Knowing who Jesus is enables me to know who I am!
Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. Hebrews 2:1
