Hebrews: Jesus is the True and Better Sacrifice

Jesus is the true and better sacrifice. 

Indeed, under the law, almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9:22

Blood reveals a problem…..

Jesus is the true and better sacrifice

For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. Hebrews 10:1

Blood reveals a problem and brings life

And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. Hebrews 10:11-14

“It is finished” (Cross moment)

For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Hebrews 9:24

Jesus is the true and better sacrifice and access

It reveals the depth of our sin and the sacrifice of Christ’s love for us.

Therefore, brothers and sisters since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:19-22

1. “Sit down” - what areas of your life are you trying to complete something Jesus has already finished?
-Not forgiving yourself for a mistake you made….not forgiving your family member for a mistake they made.

-SIT DOWN with Jesus….he has made things right with you and GOD!
2.“Draw Near” – what areas are you afraid that Jesus will be upset with you about?

Jesus is the true and better sacrifice and access. It reveals the depth of our sin but also reveals the depth of his Love FOR YOU. Not just objective but subjective!
