Seeing Clearly: Jesus' Worth

March 22, 2026 | Pastor Brian King
Passage: Matt. 26:1-13

But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant. Matthew 21:15-16

Priests and Elders: Value their positions and see Jesus as a threat or an obstacle.

When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” Matthew 26:8

Disciples: Value affirmation and see Jesus as a wise quotable teacher.

“She has done a beautiful thing to me.” Jesus, Matthew 26:8

“When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”  Jesus, Matthew 26:12-13

Woman: Values who Jesus is and where He's going. She sees Jesus as worthy of sacrifice, worthy of anointing.

Through His death, Jesus anoints us

People were bringing little children to Jesus…but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. Mark 10:13
