Encounters with the Risen Jesus: Ananias

April 26, 2026 | Pastor Brian King
Passage: The Acts of the Apostles Acts 9:10-19

Jesus encounters us personally and connects our stories of grace to one another.

Jesus reaches out. He calls Ananias by name.
Jesus reaches out. He calls YOU by name.

“suddenly a light from heaven flashed around (Saul). He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?…I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.”” Acts 9:3-4

“Get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”…Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. Acts 9:6

““Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”” Acts 9:13-14

“You don’t know what stories of grace Jesus is writing in the hearts of the people around you. …to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.” Acts 9:15

Jesus extends the Gospel through his people.
What are your stories of grace?
Who is your Saul, the one Jesus sends you to? Could well be the person you fear or resent.
What would it look like to pray, “Who are You sending me to?”

Jesus connects us to one another through our stories of grace.

May the love of Christ take hold of me
May the light of Christ shine in my heart
May the love of Christ flow through me like a river.

May the love of Christ take hold of (him/her).
May the light of Christ shine in (his/her) heart.
May the love of Christ flow through (him/her) like a river.
