Passage: 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17
The Holy Spirit makes holy things.
“I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
(Jesus said to His disciples) “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.” John 15:26
The Holy Spirit POINTS you to the Person and work of Jesus Christ.
I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in my Lord Jesus Christ, or come to Him. (explanation of the 3rd article)
“Once you were dead…we were dead because of our sins” (Ephesians 2)
The Holy Spirit EQUIPS you to trust Jesus’ promises.
But the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel…
(God) saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:5-7
“I believe in the forgiveness of sins”
The Holy Spirit POINTS you to one another.
“For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body…and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many… 27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.” 1 Corinthians
I believe in the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints
The Holy Spirit EQUIPS you for life together
“I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.” Titus 3:8
The Holy Spirit POINTS us to the world.
“As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” John 17:18
The resurrection of the body and the life everlasting
The Holy Spirit EQUIPS us with the Good News of Jesus.
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,” John 17
“God does all the work on the cross, all the work from the grave, all the work in my Baptism, all the work in my heart, all the work in my words.”
