What motivates you to obey God’s commands?
As Jesus passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. John 9:1-3
Living “under God” we bargain: attempting to explain or reason & creating anxiety
“I will utterly sweep away everything
from the face of the earth,” declares the Lord.
I will sweep away man and beast;
I will sweep away the birds of the heavens
and the fish of the sea, and the rubble with the wicked.
I will cut off mankind
from the face of the earth,” declares the Lord. Zephaniah 1:2-3
On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:
Fear not, O Zion;
let not your hands grow weak.
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:16-17
God’s response to the unexplainable and the anxious is “I AM WITH YOU”
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
What motivates you to do God’s commands? That God is with you!
