With God - OVER God

December 03, 2023 | Pastor Joel Christiansen
Passage: Matthew 3:1-12

 Prepositions define a relationship.

To be OVER God means:
· You are your own god
· You are in charge and in control
· You give very little thought to God or his presence in your daily life.

“If it’s to be, it’s up to me!”

When you live life OVER God, there is:
· Undue Pressure
· Fear
· A distorted view of Scripture
· A distorted view of Prayer

“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” John the Baptizer (Matthew 3:2)
“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” Matthew 4:17 Jesus (Matthew 4:17)

“When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, ‘Repent’ He intended that the entire life of believers should be one of repentance.” - Martin Luther

Turn away from being OVER God. Repent and turn to be With God.

“Prepare the Way of the Lord.” Matthew 3:3
“But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry.” Matthew 3:11

Jesus came to be WITH us!

Cherish His Presence
“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord.” Psalm 27:4

· Experience Joy!
“In your presence is the fullness of joy, and at your right-hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11
