- A house that HOLDS onto God’s Word
- A house that HOLDS together
- A house that UPHOLDS those around us
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
We were therefore buried with Jesus through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1
Phoebe: she has been a patron of many and of myself as well
Prisca and Aquila…who risked their necks for my life
Mary…who has worked hard for you
Rufus’ mother…who has been a mother to me as well.
Ampliatus…my beloved in the Lord
God relates to us as households.
“oikos” – has multiple ‘relationship’ meanings
What do households HOLD onto?
To hold onto God’s Word is to hold onto Jesus
“according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ…”
“through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations”
“to bring about the obedience of faith”
“ to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.” Romans 16:25-27
The best question to ask as a household:
How strong is God’s HOLD on my household?
“I am convinced that neither life nor death…can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39
Series Information
Who’s in your “Household”? One obvious answer is that it’s your family that lives with you. It’s that, and more: it’s the web of relationships—empty nest parents, adult children, grandparents, and more—that God has placed around you, the people you walk through life with. What do we “HOLD onto” as a household? Join us in September as we study what it means to HOLD onto God’s Word, to one another, and to hold up those around us. Most importantly, we’ll celebrate the gracious God who HOLDS onto us!
