Passage: 1 Corinthians 9:15-27

MESSAGE NOTES: 1 Corinthians 9:15-27

God calls us to steward our resources. (To put them in the proper place)
We steward our resources by shaping our heads, hearts, and hands.
Use God’s Resources Properly: Free from all; Servant to all

If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe betide me if I do not proclaim the gospel! For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship. What then is my reward? That in my preaching I may present the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel. 1 Corinthians 9:16-18

"We ask God’s people to give generously. If you are not a believer in Jesus Christ, we do not ask you to give. We have a gift for you - eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ." Dr. Harry Allen Ironside (Moody Church in Chicago)

For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. -Paul, 1 Corinthians 9:19

Use God’s Resources Properly

Free from all (Our resources are not our God)
Servant to all (With our resources we serve.)

To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. 1 Corinthians 9:20-23

Paul is a steward and his resources are his head, heart, and hands.
Stewarding resources takes training.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 1 Corinthians 9:24-26

How are you stewarding your head? (mind)
How are you stewarding your heart? (desires)
How are you stewarding your hands? (service)

So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 1 Corinthians 9:26

Where do you need to take a first step with your…?
