Passage: The Acts of the Apostles
The Holy Spirit calls, gathers, and enlightens us!
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.” Acts 2:1
The Holy Spirit calls every nation, every person, every age, every class.
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Joel 2:17-18,21
The Holy Spirit gathers, - points to Jesus’ accomplished work.
“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.” Acts 2:22-24
“Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.” Psalm 16:26-28
““Therefore, let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”” Acts 2:36-37
The Holy Spirit enlightens us.
“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”” Acts 2:38-39
“So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.” Acts 2:41
