Belize Mission Trip

October 1-8, 2022

We’re going back! Our last short-term mission team trip to Belize was canceled 72 hours prior to departure in March 2020 due to Covid 19. The country is slowly opening up again and the Belize Mission Society (BMS) is resuming trips of small teams. We are scheduled for October 1-8, 2022! We will go to the village of Seine Bight in southern Belize, where we helped establish the first Lutheran church in Belize – Christ Lutheran! The village is eager for the return of BMS teams and we are eager to reconnect with our friends there.

This short-term team will focus on community health care needs and education, so doctors, nurses, or various medical backgrounds will be helpful. We will also likely be helping to finish construction on the new “Mercy House”. This building, funded by an LWML grant, is being erected adjacent to Christ Lutheran Church. It will be used for community outreach like a dental clinic, school tutoring, and school feeding programs. Anyone with handyman skills or a construction background will be very helpful. The children of Seine Bight have fallen even further behind in academics with school out of session for months, so we may work on reading skills also. But the most important “skill” is not a physical ability or trained aptitude, but rather a heart for loving God’s people in Belize! We will all be doing that through the ministry of presence, shared Bible study, and meeting needs that arise. We would love to have you join us! We have room for 3 more team members.

Covid vaccinations are required; Belizean and US Covid policy change often. Fortunately, our travel credits on Delta have been extended. Contact Kathy Odegard for more information at .
