Hurricane rebuilding at camp lin Haven!

We’re excited to announce that we’ve been working closely with the LCMS Southeastern District to organize a volunteer serving trip this March to help with physical hurricane rebuilding efforts in North Carolina. From March 22-29, 2025, Webster Gardens will be sending a team to assist with the rebuilding of Camp Linn Haven (CLH), a Christian camp in Linville, NC, that was severely damaged by Hurricane Helene in late 2024. Lutheran Early Response Teams (LERT) are coordinating the volunteer efforts to rebuild the camp and surrounding areas.

  • Travel & Lodging: The Webster Gardens team will travel by church van (and additional vehicles if necessary). CLH will provide dorm-style accommodations and breakfast/lunch meals for all volunteers. Volunteers will be responsible for evening meals and incidental expenses.
  • Work Projects: Volunteers will assist with rebuilding cabins, the worship center at CLH, and potentially other homes in the area. Tasks may include hanging drywall and helping with minor construction or other necessary work.
  • Safety & Training: LERT will provide all necessary tools and materials (including masks and rubber gloves). All volunteers will undergo a pre-trip safety screening and receive a brief training on the first day of the trip. We’ll send confirmed volunteers a link to sign up through the LCMS LERT system, which will direct you to complete a background check at no cost.
  • Volunteer Requirements: We are in need of volunteers with drywall experience, but even if you have no experience, there will be training on-site. Tetanus and hepatitis shots need to be up to date. Please consult your physician for any additional recommendations for working in a hurricane cleanup and construction environment.
  • Costs: Webster Gardens will cover the transportation costs for the church van and any additional vehicles used.
