Is there anything better than fresh vegetables? Yes, there is! FREE, fresh vegetables that are grown by a group of people who desire to bless their community and who enjoy gardening together! Here at Webster Gardens, we take our name seriously! Thus, we have joined together to create a community garden that provides an opportunity to serve together as well as provide fresh vegetables for people in our area.
The garden is located on the campus of Lutheran High School South. We grow tomatoes, zucchini and squash just to name a few. Last summer we donated 565 pounds of fresh produce to the Affton Christian Food Pantry.
Who does the garden Help?
The fresh produce picked from this garden are donated to the Affton Chistian Food Pantry. Often times, food pantries are only able to provide non-perishable goods, so this is an extraordinary treat for the clients of the food pantry. They truly appreciate receiving fresh vegetables! Last summer we served 200 very appreciative families.
How do I help?
We need many volunteers to keep the garden watered and weed free. We also need many hands to pick the ripe veggies. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together. Another great benefit of helping is that when you serve in the garden, you may enjoy a share of the harvest.
How can I receive produce?
If you'd like to participate in the program, you can find out more at afftonchristianfoodpantry.com.
