Coordinator of Connections

I work with all areas of ministry to make Webster Gardens a welcoming place for newcomers. I also help those who come here, guests and members, to find community and to utilize God’s gifts to them in meaningful ways that foster connection. I have always been involved in ministry, all the way back to growing up in this church and playing trumpet here! As we moved around, I found myself repeatedly drawn into areas of ministry related to helping people find meaningful connections within the church.  When we got back to Webster Gardens, we were blessed to be able to help start up a new small group and, as that group developed, I became increasingly passionate about everyone having an opportunity to experience that kind of community. When the Coordinator of Connections role was created, it just felt like a great fit and an unexpected opportunity. What makes this church so unique is, while it’s a large congregation, it’s also filled with thriving small groups and ministry teams which allow it to maintain the tight knit community feeling while also offering a welcoming atmosphere where there is a place for everyone to serve and grow together--the best of both worlds!

I am married to Chris Burford, who I met as a Junior at Lutheran South in 1993, and we have two boys, JT who is 10 and a fifth grader, and Daxton who is seven and a first grader. I have also been a rehab nurse for 18 years and currently work as a nurse liaison for Mercy Rehab Hospital. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of work, I’m a voracious reader and writer. I love to travel and just returned from a trip to Napa with my husband and some of our best friends. I am a decent cook, but enjoy eating my husband’s far better cooking even more. I almost always have a cup of (non-caffeinated) tea in my hand. You should also know that Chris and I lived all over the country (Philadelphia, New York City, San Diego, and Washington D.C.) during the 18 years we were away from St. Louis. New York City is my favorite place we’ve lived, and I travel there every opportunity I get.
